I Couldn’t Lose Weight Then I Followed A Keto-Diet

What you should eat on a ketogenic diet

The ketogenic diet has become quite popular. The reason is it can help you to lose extra pounds faster than physical exercises. Also, it is effective for people with diabetes and epilepsy due to high fat consumption. A ketogenic diet typically limits carbs to 20–50 grams per day. Yes, it is challenging, but many nutritious foods can easily fit into this way of eating. Let`s see what kind of food you can eat on a ketogenic diet!

Keto diet is a low carb, moderate protein, and a high-fat diet.

Keto diet puts the body into a metabolic state known as ketosis. Due to high fat and low carb consumption, your liver produces ketones and you start to lose weight.

Fish and shellfish are keto-friendly foods. Salmon, sardines, mackerel and other fatty fish are very high in omega-3 fats, which lower insulin levels and increase insulin sensitivity.

Cheese is rich in protein, calcium and beneficial fatty acids, yet it contains a minimal amount of carbs. Conjugated linoleic acid in it is a fat that promotes fat loss and improvements in body composition.

Avocados and coconut oil are high in vitamins and minerals. These products may help improve cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

Meat and poultry do not contain carbs and are rich in high-quality protein and nutrients. Grass-fed meat is the healthiest choice.

Nuts, seeds, and berries are healthy, high-fat and low-carb foods. They are heart-healthy, high in fiber and help slow down the aging process.

Shirataki noodles contain less than 1 gram of carbs per average serving. Their viscous fiber helps slow down the movement of food through your digestive tract and promotes stable blood sugar levels.

Dark chocolate and cocoa are delicious sources of antioxidants. Dark chocolate contains 3–10 grams of net carbs per ounce (28 g) and may help reduce the risk of heart disease.

You need to consult your doctor before starting ketogenic diet. It may have certain side effects such as muscle cramps, irregular heartbeat, fatigue, funky breath, and constipation.
